Capello: First competitive games

Chelsea trio John Terry, Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole all sat out England training on Tuesday ahead of the World Cup qualifying meetings with Andorra and Croatia.

Fabio Capello will be concerned by the absences of captain Terry, Lampard and Cole as he plans for his first competitive games in charge of England.

But despite missing preparations, the three Chelsea stars are still expected to feature in the meeting with Andorra in Barcelona on Saturday and the trip to Croatia four days later.

Defender Terry is suffering with an illness, while Lampard (dead leg) and Cole (knee) were also considered unfit to train.

It is understood the move was purely a precautionary measure, but Capello - who is already without Steven Gerrard and Michael Carrick - will be eager to avoid further setbacks.

Manchester United's Wes Brown also missed training after reporting a minor knee injury, but is expected to be available.
