Flamengo have reiterated their desire to secure the signature of star striker Ronaldo.

The 31-year-old, who is out of contract with AC Milan, is currently recovering from a career-threatening knee injury he suffered back in February.

Ronaldo has been linked with a number of clubs over the summer, including Brazilian side Flamengo.

And vice-president Kleber Leite has reaffirmed the club's interest in bringing the two-time World Cup winner to the Estadio da Gavea.

"There is no future without a present," said Leite said of Ronaldo's rehabilitation.

"Ronaldo must get his life back, but from them onwards we'll obviously be interested in retaining him. The red-and-black carpet is ready for him."
