Hunt: Determined to prove his worth
Stephen Hunt has vowed to prove he is worth the £5million price-tag Reading have slapped on the Irish winger.
Everton are believed to have made a £3.5m bid for the 27-year-old on transfer deadline day but the Royals are holding out for the £5m get-out clause in Hunt's contract.
Although the Republic of Ireland international was disappointed not to earn a move back to the Premier League last week, he aims to show he is worth a punt in January.
"Nothing has ever come easy for me in terms of football, so it does re-focus me in terms of what I want to achieve," he told the Liverpool Echo.
"I understand Reading's point of view, I totally do, but I am looking forward to the next game or so and proving to people that I am worth the £5m."
Having been open about his ambitions, Hunt hopes Reading will be true to their word if a top-flight club offers their asking price during the next transfer window.
But the former Brentford man, who joined the Royals in 2005, insists he remains fully committed to the club.
"They can't argue with the way I play, and that's all I can do," he added.
"Any player will tell you they want to play in the Premier League. They have understood my honesty over the years on certain situations and that's what they probably like about me.
"I am happy at Reading. I live in a nice area and I have never said I am unhappy - but I want to better myself as well."
