Defoe: Wants a result

Jermain Defoe believes a draw in Croatia on Wednesday can be considered 'a great result' for England.

Fabio Capello takes his team to Zagreb in midweek on the back of a 2-0 win over Andorra in their opening 2010 World Cup qualifier.

England's last trip to the Croatian capital ended in a 2-0 defeat in the Euro 2008 qualifiers and Defoe believes the team will be satisfied with a point on this occasion.

"A draw would be a great result in Croatia," he said.

"We have to be strong and believe we are going to win because it is a massive game. But the most important thing is to get a result."

Horrible experience

Portsmouth striker Defoe, who started Saturday's success over Andorra, admits revenge is in the air against Croatia after Slaven Bilic's side won both matches en route to qualifiying for the European Championship.

He added: "We owe Croatia one. Our two results against them cost us in the end.

"They were both huge disappointments and it does not matter what sport you play, if you lose to someone, you want to beat them next time round.

"We will be ready this time. I do not want to feel like that again. It was a horrible experience.

"We know Croatia are excellent at home. We know they are a good side with good players.

"But man for man I honestly believe we are better. It is down to us to show those qualities."
