Birmingham are running the rule over Dutch winger Arturo ten Heuvel.

The 29-year-old is a free agent and is now looking to impress Blues boss Alex McLeish.

Ten Heuvel, young brother of Laurens - who played in England for the likes of Barnsley, Northampton, Sheffield United, Bradford and Grimsby - was last with Dutch club Den Bosch.

He will feature for Birmingham's reserves when they face Manchester United on Tuesday.

Not in action for the Blues' second string, but also under consideration for moves after training with the club are Nigel Quashie and Miniero.

West Ham midfielder Quashie was due to play against the Red Devils, but he was ruled out as a precaution with a tight hamstring.

Loan

The 30-year-old has two years left on his current deal at Upton Park, but has been told he is surplus to requirements.

McLeish is now considering making a loan bid for the Scotland international.

Another player who McLeish has been looking at is Brazilian Mineiro.

The 33-year-old playmaker is a free agent after leaving German side Hertha Berlin and is also attracting interest from Spain and the Middle East.

One player who does not look to be moving to St Andrews is Ulises De La Cruz.

The Ecuadorian trained with the Blues last week, but he joined up with Coventry on Tuesday and looks very unlikely to get an offer from his former boss McLeish.
