Ronaldo: No City deal

Manchester City have confirmed the club will not be pursuing the signing of Brazilian striker Ronaldo.

The three-time World Footballer of the Year is currently back in his homeland recovering from a serious knee injury suffered in February.

He is a free agent after leaving AC Milan and would be able to sign for City outside of the transfer window.

Ronaldo has claimed he has received an offer from the Premier League side and said he is looking forward to linking up with Robinho.

Right circumstances

However, City have revealed that there are no plans to sign the 31-year-old after the club explored a deal for the former Real Madrid star.

"We had shown a past interest in bringing the player to the football club in the right circumstances and spoke to him and his representatives," admitted a club spokesperson.

"However, we have chosen not to pursue the matter."

It is understood that City met with Ronaldo and carried out medical checks on the forward before opting against a deal.
