First Division Dunfermline saw off SPL opponents St Mirren in the Co-op Insurance Cup third round.
Celtic recorded a routine victory over Livingston, Dundee United defeated Airdrie, Falkirk edged out Queen of the South and Inverness needed extra time to beat Morton.
Dunfermline produced the only shock of the night at East End Park as they defeated Scottish Premier League strugglers St Mirren 2-0.
Graham Bayne opened the scoring for the Pars in the 69th minute and Simon Wiles made sure of victory with the second just five minutes later.
Georgios Samaras continued his impressive scoring streak for Celtic as he bagged a brace in the 4-0 cruise against Livingston.
Glenn Loovens headed Gordon Strachan's side in front in the 24th minute before Samaras followed suit after the interval.
Substitute Scott Brown added a third nine minutes from time and Samaras added a fourth from the spot after David Mackay brought down Shaun Maloney.
Last season's beaten finalists Dundee United are safely through to the fourth round following their 2-0 home victory against Airdrie.
David Goodwillie's header set the Terrors on their way in the 33rd minute, with Scott Robertson completing the scoring three minutes before the break.
Inverness Caley Thistle needed extra time to overcome Division One opponents Morton, with Douglas Imrie hitting the winner in the 111th minute.
James McAlistair (34) had given Morton the lead only for Richard Hastings to level 11 minutes from time to spare the visitors' blushes.
Falkirk are also through to the fourth round of the competition after a 2-1 home triumph against Queen of the South.
Neil McCann's 29th minute opener was cancelled out by Stewart Kean after the break, before Steve Lovell hit the winner 17 minutes from time.
