McGhee: No fan of Nancy

Motherwell boss Mark McGhee has told Nancy he wants to 'kick their teeth in' in Thursday's Uefa Cup first round, second leg, showdown.

The Fir Park boss has been left fuming by what he felt was a complete lack of respect from the Ligue 1 side during the first leg in France.

Nancy triumphed 1-0 at the Stade Marcel Picot, but it was their behaviour off the field towards the Well officials and players which infuriated McGhee.

Wall of indifference

He told the Daily Record: "When we travelled to Nancy a fortnight ago I anticipated making new contacts there, contacts that would add to my long list of associates.

"I thought I would be able to call upon them when necessary for help and for information about players, teams, maybe training facilities, hotels or anything.

"What I found instead was a wall of indifference and no interest from their side to have any contact with us. I guess this meant Motherwell had nothing to offer them.

"When Nancy are here on Thursday we will show them respect - then we will try to kick their teeth in."

Contempt

McGhee claims he will not even learn the name of opposition boss Pablo Correa ahead of the second leg and the two are unlikely to be sharing a drink after the match.

He added: "In Nancy we did not do ourselves justice although we achieved a decent result.

"I was going on the internet to find out their manager's name but then I stopped myself because of the contempt he showed us.

"I have not remembered it and I am not going to give him the courtesy of learning it."
