Sheffield United have confirmed Keith Gillespie can leave Bramall Lane.

As revealed by skysports.com earlier this week, Gillespie has been informed he can look for another club after a bust-up with manager Kevin Blackwell.

Blades assistant boss Sam Ellis has revealed the Northern Ireland international does not figure in Blackwell's long-term plans.

"Keith is not in the squad at the moment and I would think that will continue to be the case. He has been told that he is free to look for another club," Ellis told the club's official website.

"He is an experienced pro who feels that he would be better off somewhere else and that is the end of the matter. We don't want to air our dirty linen in public."
