Keane: Celebrates first goal
Robbie Keane and Steven Gerrard notched personal landmarks for Liverpool as Chelsea striker Didier Drogba endured further UEFA Champions League misery.
Liverpool's prospects of advancing from Group D look good after a 3-1 home win over PSV Eindhoven as Atletico Madrid won at home against Marseille.
Chelsea are top of Group A after a 0-0 draw away to CFR Cluj, but an injury to Drogba marred the result, while Roma came from behind to beat 10-man Bordeaux.
Anorthosis Famagusta beat Panathinaikos and Inter Milan were held by Werder Bremen in Group B, while in Group C, Barcelona left it late to beat Shakhtar Donetsk as Sporting Lisbon overcame Basel.
Keane scored his first, and Gerrard his 100th goal for Liverpool as the 2005 winners eased to a 3-1 home win over PSV.
The two sides met four times during the 2006/07 season and the Reds again took the upper hand with Dutch attacker Dirk Kuyt opening the scoring after just five minutes.
On 34 minutes, there was relief all around Anfield as Keane swept home his first goal for the club following Fernando Torres' cross from the right wing.
And there was another landmark on 76 minutes when Gerrard reached a century of Liverpool goals by driving home a free-kick from distance.
PSV had not scored in the four games two seasons ago, but at least improved upon that record on 78 minutes when Danny Koevermans snared a consolation.
Sergio Aguero continued his impressive form in the Champions League as Atletico edged to a 2-1 win over Marseille at Vicente Calderon.
Argentine ace Aguero scored twice against PSV a fortnight ago and required just four minutes to put Atletico in front at home to Marseille.
The French side responded to level on 16 minutes through Mamadou Niang's header, but Atletico took the points through Raul Garcia's 22nd minute winner.
Chelsea were given a stiff test in being held 0-0 by Romanian underdogs Cluj as Drogba was stretchered off.
The striker was making his first appearance in the Champions League since his red card in the final last season and his exit was the notable incident in a game of few clear-cut chances.
Roma put their Champions League campaign back on track after a 3-1 victory away to Bordeaux.
Bordeaux took the lead on 18 minutes through Yoann Gourcuff, but their game-plan fell apart after Henrique's 37th minute dismissal.
Mirko Vucinic headed Roma level just past the hour mark before Julio Baptista struck twice inside the closing 20 minutes.
Claudio Pizarro missed a golden late chance for Werder Bremen as the Bundesliga side drew 1-1 at Inter.
Maicon's delicate chip put Inter ahead on 14 minutes, but Pizarro - on loan at Bremen from Chelsea - stabbed home at the far post for a point on 63 minutes and then turned an injury-time chance into the side-netting.
Anorthosis marked Cyprus Independence Day with a first Champions League group victory after beating Panathinaikos 3-1.
Jose Sarriegi inexplicably headed into his own net on 11 minutes to gift Anorthosis a lead which was doubled on 16 minutes through Sinisa Dobrasinovic.
Dimitris Salpingidis pulled one back for Panathinaikos on 28 minutes from the penalty spot after Jeffrey Leiwakabessy handballed, but Anorthosis netted a third on 78 minutes through Hawar Taher.
Lionel Messi struck twice in the final three minutes as Barcelona posted an important 2-1 win away to Shakhtar.
Ilsinho put the Ukrainians ahead just before half-time, only for Messi to level three minutes from the end and then pop up with the winner in the last minute.
Leandro Romagnoli and Derlei scored second-half goals as Sporting won 2-0 at home to Swiss outfit Basel.
