Kuyt: Big admirer of Gerrard
Dirk Kuyt has told cash-rich Manchester City to forget about trying to sign Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard.
City, backed by the finances of the Abu Dhabi Group, have been linked with moves for a host of Europe's top stars including Gerrard.
However, Kuyt has ruled out the prospect of Gerrard or any other Liverpool player swapping Anfield for Eastlands.
"We don't talk about City much as players, but we know they have a new owner and we know he's got a lot of money," said Kuyt.
"Stevie is a great player. It's a great achievement for a midfielder to get 100 goals, and a lot of great ones in there too.
"Liverpool IS Stevie so of course it would be very difficult to buy him. I don't think he would ever leave here for City.
"I don't know what value you would put on him, but it would be a lot of money.
"So it won't be easy for City, especially if they want to sign the really big players. Of course it's possible, but if you want ones who are already playing for big clubs, that's the difficult thing.
"Liverpool is a great club.
"I'm in my third season here now and I enjoy it every day. I know how big this club is, not only in England but all over the world, and that's really important for all the players here."
Kuyt, who scored the opener in Liverpool's 3-1 win over PSV Eindhoven in midweek, says he is not worried about his lack of goals in the Premier League.
The Dutchman, who has not netted in the league since November 2007, is not concerned by his goal drought as long as he remains in the plans of Rafa Benitez.
"It's strange that I score that many in Europe but not in the Premier League, so hopefully that will change," added Kuyt.
"But the main thing is the manager's shown a lot of confidence in me by giving me a lot of games."
