Crouch: Passing 100 goals in Portugal
Peter Crouch admitted he was not aware his two goals in the Uefa Cup on Thursday saw him become a centurion.
The Portsmouth striker scored twice in extra-time to help Pompey past Portuguese side Vitoria Guimaraes, prolonging their European adventure and passing the 100 goal mark in the process.
The towering front-man is enjoying his football again after swapping the substitutes' bench at Liverpool for Fratton Park over the summer.
With his confidence restored, he now has his sights set on passing 200 goals in club football and winning his place back in Fabio Capello's England squad.
Crouch said: "I didn't know about it being the 100th goal, I didn't have a clue but it's nice to reach that landmark and I've plenty of games left in me to score a lot more - maybe even another ton.
"It would be great to do that for Portsmouth - another 100 even. I'm hopefully going to play nearly every game here and I always thought Jermain (Defoe) and I together would get lots of goals.
"I think Jermain has got five already this season and those two in Portugal took me to four. It was great for me as well getting that one against Tottenham last Sunday. It always is to get your first home goal.
"And I think it has revitalised my career coming to Portsmouth - especially from somewhere where the team was always being chopped and changed.
"I'm going to get lots of opportunities here and I'm at the stage now where I want to play as much as I can.
"I've got a manager who encourages me and I want to do the best I can. Whether it leads to me getting my England place back I don't know. I've certainly not given up on that on.
"But I'm not going to just sit around and wait for a call. I'll just keep trying to score goals and make chances for Portsmouth and see where that takes me."
