Hodgson: Frustrated to get no reward
Roy Hodgson felt his Fulham side deserved some reward from their 1-0 defeat at West Bromwich Albion.
The Cottagers gave a good account of themselves at the Hawthorns, particularly in the first half, but were beaten by Roman Bednar's scrambled second-half effort.
After that the visitors had few clear-cut opportunities but Hodgson was still pleased with his side's efforts.
He said: "I did think had we taken one of the many chances that came our way, we wouldn't have been trying again to come back from 1-0 down.
"We are still waiting for that bit of luck to be on our side."
One chance in particular fell to former Baggies midfielder Zoltan Gera who moved to Craven Cottage in the summer.
The Hungarian shot right-footed from the edge of the area but his effort went narrowly wide of Baggies keeper Scott Carson's left-hand post.
Hodgson said of Gera's opportunity: "It was on the way in. We were right behind it and could not see how it deviated and did not creep in to the net.
"We tried very hard, had chances again. It wasn't to be and at the moment we are going through one of those spells where I can't really criticise the players for what they are doing on the field.
"It is not getting the results and that is a very frustrating situation to find yourselves in.
"It sounds strange but I can't be unhappy with the performance. I am only unhappy with the result. In this league every point dropped is a very important point dropped."
Fulham lacked options up front with Andy Johnson suspended and Bobby Zamora playing after missing training due to a flu bug, but the former Blackburn boss was pleased with the former West Ham striker's display.
"Bobby was suffering a bit but gave us a good 70 minutes and I thought he gave a good account of himself.
"But our away form continues to be a concern; it is not easy to win away from home in this league. But if we continue to play like that then I'm sure that results will come - it's very important that players come away from these games knowing that they have played well."
