Port Vale have named Dean Glover as their new manager.

The Valiants parted company with Lee Sinnott late last month after relegation from League One and a poor start to the new season, installing Glover as the caretaker.

The club admitted a lack of funds meant an 'outside' appointment was highly unlikely and now they have turned to Glover, who was part of Sinnott's backroom staff.

"It is important the club unite behind Dean Glover and give him as much support as possible to turn things around on the pitch and get the season going again," chairman Bill Bratt said.

Glover has taken charge of Port Vale's last two games, but as yet he has been unable to turn their fortunes round as both matches have ended in defeat.
