England captain John Terry was one of four players who missed training on Tuesday ahead of the World Cup qualifier with Kazakhstan on Saturday.

Terry, along with Chelsea team-mate Ashley Cole, Manchester United's Wes Brown and Stewart Downing of Middlesbrough, were all absent as the rest of the squad were put through their paces by Fabio Capello and his staff.

Terry has a slight back niggle following Chelsea's weekend clash with Aston Villa.

Despite not taking to the training pitch, all four did do gym work and are expected to join their team-mates on Wednesday.

England face Kazakhstan at Wembley before travelling to Belarus on Wednesday.
