Pavlyuchenko: Ankle injury

Tottenham have suffered a blow with the news that Roman Pavlyuchenko is set to be sidelined until the end of the month.

The striker had to be replaced by Darren Bent in the first half of Sunday's 1-0 defeat to Hull after suffering an injury.

Guus Hiddink had hoped the player would recover in time to link up with the Russia squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Germany and Finland.

However, scans have now shown that Pavlyuchenko has a partially torn ankle ligament.

"Roman will now undergo further treatment on the ankle after specialists declared him unfit to play for the next three weeks," said a Spurs statement.

Pavlyuchenko, who only moved to White Hart Lane from Spartak Moscow on 1st September, is therefore likely to miss Tottenham's Premier League games against Stoke and Bolton.

He could also be a major doubt for the London derby at Arsenal on 29th October.
