Bellamy: Relishing challenge

Wales captain Craig Bellamy believes his side must play at a high tempo to defeat Liechtenstein on Saturday.

The West Ham United striker is looking forward to the forthcoming Group 4 qualifying games against Liechtenstein and Germany as he returns after almost a year away from the international scene.

He is expected to start alongside 18-year-old Sam Vokes for the first time in the game against Liechtenstein at the Millennium Stadium, which can be seen live on Sky Sports 1 and HD 1 at 5.30pm.

Wales sit in third position in Group 4 and will need to win as they travel to Monchengladbach for a clash with Germany on Wednesday in their next encounter.

Hard work

Bellamy told Sky Sports: "It will be my first effective start for about year so (I'm) really looking forward to it, but I have put in a lot of hard work to get to this, so hopefully all goes well."

When asked if he would be able to play for a full 90 minutes in both games, he replied: "I have done enough work to but I have just got to get through the first game and we will see how we get on for the next game."

But he believed Wales will need to play at a high tempo from the start against Liechtenstein.

He said: "We have got to start off with the right tempo, we have got to move the ball quickly, get down the flanks, really set a right tempo and catch them because if we move the ball slowly and we get into their rhythm which we've seen from a lot of teams before, it can be a long night.

Really high

"So hopefully, raise the tempo, keep it really high, try and be creative, try and look for gaps and then hopefully get that first goal and go on from there."

He added a victory by any score would be a good result at the Millennium Stadium.

"We are Wales, any win is a good win for us - as long as we get the three points that's what is important."
