Capello: Wary of Belarus

England boss Fabio Capello is wary of the threat posed by next opponents Belarus.

The Three Lions go into Wednesday's game sitting on top of Group 6 with a perfect nine points from their opening three matches.

But Capello is not complacent, believing Belarus present dangerous opponents, even if their most notable player, Alexander Hleb, is a major fitness doubt.

"It is not going to be easy," said the England boss ahead of the trip.

"Belarus are a very good team. I have seen them three times, and they played very well on each occasion.

Very organised

"They are very organised with good forwards. They are a dangerous side."

Captain John Terry missed England's 5-1 win over Kazakhstan on Saturday but could be fit to face Belarus.

Capello said: "I hope John Terry will be okay. We have a bit of practice to do and after that we will decide."

But one player who looks sure to start is Wayne Rooney, who netted a brace in the victory over Kazakhstan, meaning the Manchester United striker has now scored in four successive games for club and country.

Key player

"He is a key player for us, just as he is also very important for Manchester United," said Capello.

"Rooney is in fantastic form at the moment and is scoring a lot of goals.

"His movement and pace are excellent. He runs; he comes back to win the ball. He scores goals. He does everything. He is an example to the other players."

But Capello also acknowledged the role Emile Heskey plays for the team, and Rooney in particular.

He added: "Rooney is very important for us.

"But Heskey is important for him. Defenders always go towards Heskey. When that happens, it creates a bit of space for Rooney - whose movement is so good."
