Boyd: Content with decision
I'll stand by what I've done. It might be right and it might not be right, but I'll not play for Scotland again as long as George Burley is in charge.
Kris Boyd
Quotes of the week
Kris Boyd is standing by his decision to quit the Scottish national team for as long as George Burley remains manager.
The Rangers striker informed Burley that he would no longer play for Scotland under his management, after spending 90 minutes on the bench during the 0-0 draw with Norway.
"I'll stand by what I've done," he told the Scottish Sun.
"It might be right and it might not be right, but I'll not play for Scotland again as long as George Burley is in charge.
"I've taken the decision and that's the way it is."
Boyd has struggled for domestic form so far this season, but remains confident that he still has the quality to succeed at international level.
"Football is about opinions, and his opinion is obviously that I'm not good enough to play for Scotland," added the 25-year-old.
"My opinion is that I am good enough and have proved that."
Yet, despite this disagreement, the former Kilmarnock man insists that he has nothing personal against Burley and that the decision to quit has been motivated by 'football reasons'.
"There has never been a problem between us," revealed Boyd.
"I hope that if I meet him, we would still speak to one another.
"It's nothing personal between him and me. It is purely down to football reasons.
"I'm obviously not in his plans, so there is no point in me being there."

Well done to Kris Boyd, the man has proved time after time you put him on the park and he will score, he has a 75% goals per games for Rangers and 50% goals per game for Scotland who else can say that they have that sort of scoring record in the current Scotland team??????

Kris Boyd doesn't get a game for rangers, i thought he had potential to be a great Scotland player . however no-one should turn there back on there country , it shows his national pride & team ethic are extremely weak . if my national manager asked Scott Brown to do waterboy he would do it. walter ,alex & george hardly played him . Good riddance turn coat

Scotland deserves better than Kris Boyd. He has a very high opinion of himself. He does not score in every game he plays in and there was no guarantee he would have scored for Scotland. He cannot get a regular game for Rangers so that says it all. If he was as good as he thinks he is he would be on the pitch for Rangers every week.

He may be your best striker but like others say if he aint playing for his club them he wont get in the side. i remember beckham getting dropped for real madrid and mclaren sropping him from squad, bur did he say that he would never play for him. No he said that he's not finished with england and that he would prove himslef good enough to play for his country again, that man know what it means to put his countrys shirt on, not byod, pathetic loser, who throws his toys out the pram when he doesnt get picked, for all he knew he could played in the next game and scored and then burley may have played him more, but now he wont get that chance. Grow some balls and realise what it is to represent your country

Boyd is right to quit until Burley goes the manager has no tactical knowledge and should resign now and give Souness the Job in my view he is the only available manager that can turn this around BURLEY MUST GO NOW This is about a striker who scores a 1-2 ratio for the National team Boyd wont get a start because all he does is scores goals Ally Mcoist was never great at much else but he was first Pick for the National Manger!

Who does Kris Boyd really think he is ? i cant argue with his goal scoring, credit where credit is due but he cant run the length of himself and when were talking about international football here not against inverness away, he cant get a game for rangers so why would he think he deserves to walk into his national side. Cris Iwelumo came and and gave scotland more of an attacking threat than james mcfadden so im my opinion Burley got the subs spot on. Kris boyd has to pull his finger out and start learning from ally McCoist and whoever is manager after burley should only pick him if his attitude changes, his work rate doubles and he makes a groveling apology to the FA, his teamates and the Fans. Grow up Boyd and grow a set and fight for your place.

When did Kris Boyd turn into Pele? He should take a leaf out of David Beckham and Michael Owen's book (or even Emile Heskey). They never complained when being left out of the squad. Beckham said and did all the right things to get into the team. This has happened alot lately where average players quit international football because they are overlooked. Jamie Carragher is one of them

Boydy is the best striker in scotland by far yet walter wont give him a chance at rangers and then burley picks 2 diddys ahead of him for scotland . No wonder the big man looked anoyed at the weekend. When iwelemo missed you could see boyd laughing just like the rest of the world. Walter play the big man PLEASE. Burley PLEASE LEAVE and let someone who knows what they are doing be scotland manager ur hopless. Come on Boydy.

He probably saw the way he managed Saints , if Burley had stayed we would have gone down ??

Although I personally think that Kris Boyd is good enough to play for Scotland I reckon he is contradicting himself by quitting. If it was for football reasons only then why is he happy to sit on the bench at Ibrox ? However at the end of the day I don't think most genuine Scotland fans want a Prima Donna quitter in their team so enjoy the Ibrox bench Boydy

I think that Darren Fletchers team mates on Saturday's Soccer AM proves why Kris Boyd doesn't get a game! Q. Worst Trainer A. Kris Boyd, I hardly see him move in training! If he's not going to put the effort in then why should he get a game? I do think he maybe should have put him on, on Sat for the last 10 mins but he is not a team player and is not willing to track back and defend when needed.

Ross Fergusob (Rangers fan) says...
Boyd must wonder what is going on. He is by far the best option we have in Scotland to get our national team goals. Play him and more often than not he is in the right place at the right time. Get off Burleys back, lets remember he is missing his 3 best players in Hutton, Miller & Ferguson. Lets hope Ferguson stays on because if he goes we have NO leader on the pitch. Fletcher is certainly not the answer. I also do not think this is the last players who will hang up his boots ref international football and this is happening at a time when most thought our fortunes were about to change and we may qualify for a tournament.

fair play to you big man, if im honest if it had been me in that situation, id have done the same thing!!! i think you could be scoring a hat trick every week and he still wouldnt give you a start dont think he could pick his backside!!!! i mean he hasnt done anythin since takin Ipswich to the premiership...... his time at Hearts shouldnt be judged, he had a good start to his season there, thats it just knuckle down at rangers and get on with your job there

i think its about time footballers put there dummies back in and stop throwing there toys out of the pram. the manager selects the team and players should respect his decision on who to play and when and be ready when called upon if he was that passionate about playing for his country he would support who was playing instead of sulking
