Manchester United veteran Ryan Giggs admits he is enjoying his new role in the side.

The 34-year-old has now reverted from his left winger role to a central midfielder as Sir Alex Ferguson looks to get the best out of the former Wales international.

Giggs put in a superb performance in the United engine room against West Brom on Saturday and he says he is relishing his new role.

"It is not a role I am unfamiliar with because I played in midfield when I was younger," said Giggs.

Experience

"I just try to use my experience.

"I don't think some players are used to opponents trying to take them on in central midfield, so that can work to my advantage.

"Maybe I will still play the odd game on the wing but it is difficult to play there when you are not getting up and down.

"The manager sees me in a different role, so this is something that has been developing over the last three or four years."

At this stage of his career Giggs has found himself rested on a number of occasions by Ferguson and the United ace says he has no problem in being used in a rotation system.

"I would definitely rather start games and I almost don't want to make too much of an impact because I don't want to be known as a supersub," added Giggs.

Not a problem
"But it is not a problem. Playing in matches here and there suits me fine.

"As long as I know which games I will be playing in, I can prepare myself in training. I accept I am not going to play every week."
