Blackburn Rovers boss Paul Ince has warned Aston Villa off a move for Roque Santa Cruz when the transfer window reopens.

Reports have suggested Villa are lining up a January swoop for the Paraguay international and could offer Marlon Harewood in part-exchange to land Santa Cruz.

However, Ince insists the former Bayern Munich man is going nowhere and that Villa could not afford to buy him.

"Villa can't afford him," Ince told The Sun.

"When it gets near to the transfer window, people start coming out with all these things.

"Roque signed a four-year deal, he came out and said he loves it at Blackburn. He wants to stay here and we want him to stay here.

"Until that changes, that's the only situation that matters."
