Lampard: Winning mentality

Frank Lampard believes Chelsea are back to their best and ready to dominate English football.

The Blues won back-to-back Premier League titles under former coach Jose Mourinho, but have seen arch-rivals Manchester United emulate that feat over the last two seasons.

Lampard is determined to get his hands on some silverware this term and feels the club are heading in the right direction.

Chelsea have been rejuvenated since the summer arrival of Brazilian boss Luiz Felipe Scolari, with a winning mentality currently sweeping around Stamford Bridge.

Special

"In the first two Mourinho years, I think we were fantastic," said Lampard.

"It's taken a little bit for granted just how good we were that first year - the amount of points we amassed, the little amount of goals we gave away. That was something very special.

"Now, there's a similar type of feeling to this squad. We might be playing a slightly different type of football, but there's still that same kind of mentality, going into games feeling very strong."

Chelsea have certainly been more pleasing on the eye under Scolari, with Lampard hoping the club can now win a place in the hearts of neutral supporters across the country.

"I think that's important for the club," added the England international.

Respect

"I think we suffered from our own successes a little bit. When you get successful, some people get the hump with that.

"But, if you can keep playing football, good football, people will respect that.

"The togetherness, the spirit, the way we're knocking the ball around and moving it is very, very enjoyable and it's the football I've always wanted to play.

"It's certainly the kind of football I think every fan would enjoy watching."
