Crouch: Cannot wait

Former Liverpool striker Peter Crouch is relishing the prospect of taking on his old team-mates as a Portsmouth player on Wednesday.

The England international makes his first return to Anfield since his summer switch from Rafa Benitez's side to the South Coast outfit.

Crouch has nothing but positive memories following his time with The Reds and he has conceded he would love for Steven Gerrard and co to go on and lift the Premier League title.

However, Pompey need points of their own to climb the Premier League ladder and Crouch hopes the Reds' quest for a long-awaited title does not continue to gather momentum at Anfield.

Looking forward

"I'm really looking forward to going back. I've got such fond memories of the place," he told Sky Sports News.

"I don't think you realise how big a club it is until you've played for them. I had three seasons there and I look back on it as probably the best time of my career. I loved every minute of it there.

"I've still got a lot of friends at the club still and I'm really looking forward to going back.

"They are sitting top of the league. Nothing would give me greater satisfaction than to win, but for them to win the league."
