Manchester United defender Patrice Evra is refusing to live on past glories as he looks to help United continue their defence of the UEFA Champions League with victory at Celtic.

A win in Glasgow on Wednesday night will all but secure United's progress to the knock-out stages of the competition and Evra insists that despite last season's European and domestic league double he is only interested in the future.

"I felt confident when I came back (in the summer), particularly after what we achieved last season," said the France international.

"But you need to be careful because that success is in the past and you must look forward and keep improving.

Nothing

"At the start of each season I tell myself: 'Pat, you have won nothing.'"

Evra told the Manchester Evening News: "That way I can focus on helping the team win as many trophies as possible.

"When you are the champions it's more difficult to keep hold of your trophies, but the challenge to do that is very exciting and I think about it every morning.

"I want to win more trophies and I know I am at the right club to do that."
