Taylor: Delighted

Steven Taylor has hailed the team spirit in the Newcastle United dressing room.

The Magpies made it back-to-back Premier League wins on Monday as they overcame Aston Villa.

The troubled club had previously gone seven matches without a success but now find themselves 14th in the table.

Taylor is delighted with the side's upturn in form and praised the positive change in the atmosphere on Tyneside under interim manager Joe Kinnear.

He told the Evening Chronicle: "Hopefully, we have put a smile back on the fans' faces with a good result and team performance against Aston Villa on Monday night.

"It was fantastic in the dressing room at the end. There is a togetherness now which we had been missing.

"It was a great week for us gaining two wins. It is so tight at the bottom end that a few wins can push you up towards the top. For us now, it is all about how we perform.

"We want to put a few points on the board and let other teams try and catch us."
