Blyth Spartans claimed another famous FA Cup scalp as they defeated Shrewsbury Town 3-1.

The Spartans have a rich FA Cup history and have now booked their place in the second round for the 15th time after they dispatched of League Two Shrewsbury.

The Conference North side took the lead at Croft Park within the opening 60 seconds as Shaun Reay, who only joined the club at the end of October, fired home.

Former Darlington striker Reay added his second on the half-hour before Simon Todd lashed home the third less than ten minutes into the second-half.

Grant Holt gave Shrewsbury some hope but it was no more than mere consolation as Harry Dunn's men moved comfortably into the next round.

Grays Athletic and AFC Telford came so close to matching Blyth's efforts but they both conceded late goals and will now face replays.

Telford went behind early on to Southend when Francis Laurent scored, but a brace from Jon Adams looked to have sealed the win for The Bucks - but they were denied in the final minute when Jean Francois Christophe pounced to save the League One outfit.

Likewise, Grays had looked on course for a shock as they led 1-0 at Brunton Park against Carlisle - but the managerless League One side claimed a replay thanks to Gary Madine's late header.

One non-league side was guaranteed a place in the second round from the Alfreton-Bury Town clash, and it was the home side who progressed with a 4-2 win.

Alfreton went ahead after just four minutes through Martin McIntosh but Gavin Johnson and Lee Reed fired Bury ahead.

But second-half goals from Leo Fortune-West, Josh Law and Paul Clayton secured Alfreton's passage.

Bournemouth claimed their place in the second round as they defeated League One Bristol Rovers at Dean Court.

The League Two side had the advantage of playing against ten-men for most of the game when Byron Anthony was sent off for Rovers - but it was not until 14 minutes from time that Jason Pearce gave The Cherries the win.

The numbers were evened up late on when Lee Bradbury saw red for Bournemouth.

Millwall booked their place in the second round after a 3-0 win at Chester.

The League One side left it late at the Deva Stadium as all three goals for Kenny Jackett's men arrived in the final 14 minutes.

Lewis Grabban opened the scoring and the lead was doubled just moments later when Neil Harris fired. The icing was put on the win when Ashley Grimes scored in injury time.

Gillingham are into the draw for the next round after they won 1-0 at Gigg Lane against Bury.

The only goal arrived after 71 minutes when Curtis Weston struck.

A last-minute penalty from John Grant gave Aldershot a replay against League Two rivals Rotherham.

The Millers looked on course for victory at The Recreation Ground as Micky Cummins scored, but then Grant fired home in stoppage time to force the replay.

Oldham came from two goals behind to claim a replay against Cheltenham.

The home side were 2-0 up at the interval as Scott Murray and Lloyd Owusu scored but Martin Allen's side could not hang on as Chris Taylor and Danny Whitaker fired home to make sure of a replay.

Brighton and Hartlepool shared a six-goal thriller at The Withdean Stadium.

Albion were looking good at the break thanks to goals from Kevin McLeod and Dean Cox, but Danny Wilson's side responded in spectacular fashion as a Colin Hawkins own goal, and strikes from James Brown and Andy Monkhouse put them ahead.

Tommy Fraser then salvaged a replay for Brighton with the equaliser 12 minutes from time.

Barnet and Rochdale will do it all again after a 1-1 draw at Underhill.

Dale went ahead just after the break through Chris Dagnall but Ismail Yakubu levelled for The Bees to secure the replay.

Finally, Accrington and Tranmere face a replay after a goalless draw at The Frazer Eagle Stadium.
