Tony Mowbray felt West Bromwich Albion's positive approach was punished by a sloppy 10 minutes at Liverpool.

The Baggies started with Ishmael Miller and Roman Bednar up front at Anfield, and kept the Reds on their toes in the early stages.

However, Robbie Keane struck twice in the lead-up to half-time before Alvaro Arbeloa completed a 3-0 win for Liverpool in injury-time.

West Brom boss Mowbray had no regrets about the way he sent his team out and was left to rue the period before the break.

Attack-minded

"We intended to be positive, to ask Liverpool some questions and go for," said Mowbray.

"We intended to be attack-minded and for long spells we held our own. We had a sloppy 10 minutes and we were punished for that.

"But we had some young strikers out there against top-class defenders. They were a little naive at times."

Mowbray is also confident that the Baggies can survive in the Premier League this season, despite slipping to second bottom in the table.

He added: "Games like this will not define our season, that will come against clubs around us in the table.

"But if we can stay up, and come back next season with some belief about us, we have confidence, and I am not worried at this stage about our position. We are still very much in touch with everyone."
