Joe Kinnear expects Steven Taylor to be available for Newcastle United's weekend clash against Wigan.

The 22-year-old defender missed The Magpies' 2-1 defeat at Fulham on Sunday with slight groin strain.

However, interim manager Kinnear does not expect the injury to force him out of any further matches for the club, starting with the visit of The Latics to St James' Park on Saturday.

"Steven missed the game (against Fulham) which was disappointing," he told the club's official website.

"But it's nothing too serious and I think he'll be back for Wigan."
