Cardiff boss Dave Jones has confirmed the club will appeal Darren Purse's red card at the weekend.

The Bluebirds captain was dismissed against QPR on Saturday following a challenge on Lee Cook.

After the game at Loftus Road, when quizzed on whether an appeal would be lodged, Jones said: "What's the point, you don't get any joy."

However, after speaking with Cardiff chairman Peter Ridsdale, Jones has now had a change of heart.

"I have talked it through with Dave Jones and we both agree we must appeal,"

Ridsdale told WalesOnline.

"Neither of us believe Darren deserved to be sent off. It was a challenge which had to be made and he had his eyes on the ball all the time."

The appeal will be heard by the Football Association of Wales later this week.
