Landon Donovan has linked up with Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich after accepting their offer of a 10-day training stint.

With the MLS season now finished until next season Donovan has decided to maintain his fitness levels rather than take a break from the game.

The vastly-experienced USA international has had a spell in German football with Bayer Leverkusen, but failed to settle and returned to MLS.

Bayern coach Jurgen Klinsmann is fully aware of LA Galaxy star Donovan's attributes, although the ex-Germany manager is refusing to say whether the striker could join on a permanent basis.

"Landon will spend the next 10 days training with us to keep his fitness up to scratch," he told the club's official website.

Very good footballer

"He is a great person, a very good footballer and one of the top personalities in the game in America."

Donovan has admitted that he would be keen to try his luck abroad again and Munich would appear to be one destination high on his list:

"That's one of the best teams in the world," he said on his personal website.

"If January rolls around and there's interest, and the league is willing to discuss it, I would be excited to talk about it."
