Dave Kitson has dismissed rumours that he is unhappy at Stoke and seeking an imminent exit from the club.

The striker has struggled to settle at the Britannia Stadium since completing a record-breaking £5.5million switch from Reading over the summer.

He is yet to open his account for the club, while reports have suggested that he has grown increasingly disillusioned with Tony Pulis' tactical approach.

Kitson, though, insists he remains fully committed to the Potters cause and is backing himself to break his goalscoring duck sooner rather than later.

"I want to score a goal. It's just difficult at the moment," Kitson told the Sentinel.

"I will do what Tony wants me to do because I just want to play and help Stoke play in the Premier League.

Frustrated

"Any striker gets frustrated if they don't score because you are expected to. When it doesn't happen, people start to point fingers and rightly so.

"But I'm trying my hardest for the boys and for Tony because he's a genuine and honest guy, one you want to try for.

"I don't dictate the way we play. The way we play is fantastically effective and you won't find me arguing with the manager because he's the boss.

"If he wants me to play left-back, I will. I just want to do well for Tony and Stoke City Football Club. I will give 100 per cent until Tony says he doesn't want me anymore."

Pulis has returned the compliments paid by his misfiring forward, claiming Kitson remains a vital part of his plans.

He said: "Dave is a good player who just needs a goal - and we are desperate for him to score. He's a quality player who brings a lot more to the table."
