Queens Park Rangers midfielder Akos Buzsaky is confident he can recover from the knee injury which has ruled him out for the rest of the season.

Buzsaky damaged his anterior cruciate ligament in Tuesday's Carling Cup defeat at Manchester United and was replaced after 33 minutes.

The Hungary international admits he did not believe he had suffered such a serious injury, but the schemer has vowed to bounce back.

"My knee never had a problem before," Buzsaky told samsungsport. "I didn't think this was a serious injury.

"It was twisted a bit, but I came off the pitch immediately and didn't force my play. But next morning I could hardly move it.

"I won't give up. I don't think this injury will break my career."

Gera sympathy

Meanwhile, Buzsaky has received the support of compatriot Zoltan Gera, who plays for QPR's local rivals Fulham.

Gera said: "I'm very sorry because he was just back after his long injury, so it's hard to deal with a situation like this.

"On Sunday, he watched our game against Newcastle and after the final whistle we went out together to eat something.

"He was very hopeful and said that he's optimistic and hoped that his old injury wouldn't affect his performance.

"I hope that he'll recover faster than is expected and we can play together in the national team and face each other in England."
