Norwich have suffered a major blow with the news that Dejan Stefanovic will miss the rest of the season through injury.

The former Portsmouth and Fulham man had to be strectchered off with a knee injury during last weekend's 2-2 draw with Preston at Carrow Road.

Scans have shown the 34-year-old has ruptured his cruciate knee ligaments and that he faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Canaries boss Glenn Roeder admitted it was a major blow to lose the player.

"He's been to see a specialist and had a scan and, unfortunately, he's ruptured cruciate knee ligaments which will need an operation in the next two weeks," Roeder told the club's official website.

"This is clearly a long-term injury and a massive blow to the club and Dejan personally.

"Until the surgeon has completed the operation it's difficult to assess how long he'll be out for, but obviously with this kind of injury you are talking about a lengthy delay."
