Mark Wright has returned to Chester as manager on a non-contract basis.

The former England international will begin a third stint at the helm after two previous spells at the Deva Stadium, during which he guided the club to the Conference title in 2004.

Wright's former assistant Steve Bleasdale has also rejoined the League Two outfit.

Ex-Liverpool defender Wright replaces former Blues boss Simon Davies, who was sacked on Tuesday following the club's FA Cup defeat to Millwall.

Wright returns with Chester 19th in the League Two table with just three victories from their opening 15 games.

His first challenge comes on Saturday with a home meeting with fellow strugglers Morecambe.
