Brown: Pleased with sides' response
Hull City manager Phil Brown was pleased with his sides' response in the second half after coming in at half time 2-1 down against Manchester City on Sunday.
Brown saw his side take the lead thanks to some poor defending from City's Tal Ben Haim with Hull striker Daniel Cousin cashing in.
But a Stephen Ireland double just before half-time gave the Tigers' boss the chance to have a pop at his players during the break. But at the final whistle Brown declared he was proud of his players.
He said: "I suppose a draw was a fair result at the end of the day but it was a fantastic second half performance from our boys and credit to them.
"I gave them a lot of stick at half-time because of the way we threw a goal lead away but they seemed to respond.
"I was loathed to make changes because of the way we played the second half and we got something out of the game and that was the main thing."
Despite the homes sides' bright start Brown was disappointed that his side played a big part in helping the visitors get back into the game.
He said: "We took our foot off the gas. For 35 minutes we did not literally control the game but our game plan was working.
"Then all of a sudden Stephen Ireland capitalises on a poor back pass or a poor mistake then they had the impetuous so the last 10-15 minutes of the first half Man City came into the game."
Brown was understandably pleased that the draw halted a run of three straight defeats in the league and insisted that the home fans played their part in the match.
"I think we have to get away with this 20 point mentality now we're on 21 points so we can move on. It was a well earned hard fought game just to get a point," he added.
"If we had got a winner Mark would have been complaining and I would have been elated and but that's football.
"The fans were fantastic and certainly when we had the three free kick scenario with Geovanni I think that got everybody going. I think the decibels went up another couple of notches it was exciting stuff.
"Overall we scored a couple of goals but we conceded two poor goals for our standards and we will have to improve on that."
