Schuster: Support
Real Madrid manager Bernd Schuster has been handed a vote of confidence by the Bernabeu board.
Speculation suggested that Real were ready to part company with the former Getafe boss following an inconsistent season.
Sporting director Predrag Mijatovic scheduled a press conference in the Spanish capital on Monday evening where rumour implied it could be announced Schuster was to leave the club.
But Mijatovic insists Schuster - who took over in 2007 - continues to enjoy the full support of the Bernabeu hierarchy and the Real squad.
Mijatovic said that president Ramon Calderon and the board of directors had, "full confidence in our players and our coaching staff.
"My obligation as sporting director is to transmit to our fans a sense of tranquillity, serenity and calm.
"Now it is necessary to trust that we have a solid project, that we have great players who are able to improve and can obtain the objectives that we have."
The Primera Liga title holders currently sit fourth in the table and Saturday's defeat at Real Valladolid piled on the pressure.
Real also crashed out of the Copa del Rey to minnows Real Union last week and they have failed to impress in the UEFA Champions League.

i do not get real madrid, they sacked capello for his style of play and he wasnt progressing well with the players but what is the point of getting another manager in schuster when he is in the same position capello was which was falling adrift in title race, bad champions league run etc, real madrid have to stop sacking managers and continue to work hard to improve, they should not have sacked capello because schuster is not any different in my opinion

I don't think Schuster is to blame. He coaches a team that someone else buys. At the start of the season it was obvious that they were light up front. A long term injury to van Nistelrooy has robbed the team of the only consistent goalscorer. Robben seems to spend more time on the treatment table than off it. They could do worse than trying to sign Ronaldo (The real one, not the cheat who turns out for Man U)

Boring football, 4th in the league and struggling in the Champions League. I can't believe he has got this far and i'll be glad to see the back of him. Madrid demands trophies and good football which doesn't leave many candidates. Maybe Wenger when he wins nothing this year will decide he fancies a new challenge...

Schuster is a dead man walking with the money Real have splashed. Juandé Ramos to take over?

I have just got home having seen a TV screen in a local pub (without sound) that showed Bernd Schuster in one shot and someone who was obviously a Real Madrid 'suit' in another. I commented to my wife that Schuster must have had the sack. I have now seen Sky Sports News which said that Schuster had been given a vote of confidence. So he won't be getting the sack until next week.

i think its about time the Madrid board showed a bit of faith in their managers, capello for example was their for one season he won the league and got sacked although Madrids loss has most certainly been Englands gain
