Arsenal forward Theo Walcott has stated that Wednesday's friendly with Germany in Berlin is worthwhile.

Fabio Capello has seen his squad decimated by injuries with regulars such as Wes Brown, Rio Ferdinand, Ashley Cole, Joe Cole, Steven Gerard, Frank Lampard, Emile Heskey and Wayne Rooney all pulling out.

The injury list has left Capello with just four regular starters in David James, Gareth Barry, Theo Walcott and John Terry, who appears to have shrugged off a foot injury.

Opportunities

This has called many to question the importance of the match but Walcott believes that the friendly will allow manager Capello to try new things.

He told the Evening Standard: "The good thing about friendlies is you can tweak things and also try different things.

"I only played in the Trinidad and Tobago friendly in the summer and I didn't expect to start in any qualifiers straight away.

"So it just shows if you're training well, which I was, anyone can get a chance."
