Brazilian striker Ronaldo has revealed that he has not made a decision on whether to continue playing or retire from the world of football.

Ronaldo suffered another serious knee injury when he ruptured a tendon while playing for AC Milan in February. The club subsequently released the striker when his contract expired at the end of last season.

The 32-year-old recently made a comeback in a charity match in Morocco, where he came on for 22 minutes, but the three-time World Player of the Year is unsure whether he will make a comeback in the professional game.

He told Gazzetta dello Sport: "I'm tired because the rehab work I've done is tough and my legs are heavy.

"Football is my life, but 22 minutes at that pace is not much more than an exhibition. Real professionalism is completely different."

Ronaldo recently turned down an offer from Siena president Giovanni Stronati to return to Serie A on a pay-per-goal contract but the former Real Madrid man politely turned him down.

Dilemma

He said: "I thank him, but I really don't know what the future holds for me. I don't know whether to continue playing or retire. I haven't made a decision yet."

The Brazilian has also been linked with a move to Manchester City but for the time being he has been training with Brazilian club Flamengo. But even the prospect of playing for the club he supported as a boy cannot help make up the striker's mind.

He said: "There's no rush. I want to finish my rehab, and then you know how these things go. I could decide tomorrow or a month from now. I really don't know."

If Ronaldo does decide to call it a day it has been rumoured that Fifa will offer him a role as a missionary ambassador to developing countries; an idea that appeals to the Brazilian.

He added: "I consider myself a lucky man, and to be able to give back in some way seems the least I can do."
