Kinnear: Has another month
Joe Kinnear has confirmed he will spend another month in caretaker charge of Newcastle United.
The former Wimbledon boss has been handed the Magpies' reins while owner Mike Ashley looks to find a buyer for the club.
Kinnear has been at the helm since late September and his tenure will now take the Irishman up to the January transfer window.
Speaking after an impressive 0-0 draw at Chelsea, Kinnear admits he is now hoping to be given the chance to sign players in the New Year.
He also revealed Ashley is in talks with prospective buyers after an American offer fell below the current owner's valuation.
"The deal was to be in charge until the club was sold and nothing has changed since then to be honest," said Kinnear.
"But I have been informed that I am here for another month and that will bring us up to the transfer window.
"So if I can twist his arm and get a few quid out of him, I can buy a couple of players.
"Mike told me I would be here for another month on Friday. The club has not got a buyer yet, but people are talking to them. So far, nobody has come up with the cash.
"Mike said they were Americans, but the offer they made was well below his estimation of what the club was worth."
