Evra: Focused on United
I haven't heard anybody say: 'Oh la la. From now on, they are the richest club in the world'. Us, we know our history.
Patrice Evra on Manchester City
Quotes of the week
Patrice Evra has insisted Manchester City's new-found wealth has had no effect on Manchester United.
City lock horns with their rivals on Sunday for the first time since they were taken over by the Abu Dhabi United Group.
Expectations at Eastlands have increased dramatically since the financial injection, with the £32.5million signing of Robinho expected to be the first of many big-money captures.
Red Devils left-back Evra, though, is unfazed by the hype surrounding their Manchester foes, insisting his team-mates are focused on the future at Old Trafford.
"We don't speak very much about City in the dressing room," the 27-year-old told L'Equipe.
"I haven't heard anybody say, 'Oh la la. From now on, they are the richest club in the world'. Us, we know our history."
Evra made his United debut at Eastlands in January 2006 after signing from Monaco, suffering a 3-1 defeat with the full-back substituted at half-time.
Of his United bow and the rivalry between the two clubs, he added: "For me, it is a peculiar thing with City - it was my first match in the Premier League.
"It was my biggest feeling since I arrived here. I remember getting a stud in the eye. We lost 3-1. Ferguson brought me off at half-time, saying to me, 'Patrice, go and watch the match, and learn about English football'.
"It is a true derby, especially for the fans. City are five minutes from our training ground. We can sense them."
