Blackburn manager Paul Ince believes his side were unlucky to lose 3-2 to Portsmouth at Fratton Park on Sunday.

The loss means Blackburn have now taken just three points from a possible 24 and they remain 19th in the Premier League.

Ince can take heart in his side's performance as they battled back from two goals down to level through Matt Derbyshire and Tugay only for Sean Davis to grab a 79th-minute winner for Pompey.

Rovers also had two goals disallowed in what were two dubious decisions but Ince knows his side need to keep going.

He told Sky Sports News: "It's disappointing but first half we were the better side and made two or three good chances.

"I said to the players beware of Crouchy pulling away at the back post. After that we have got to be a bit more mature. We left ourselves open at the back but credit to the lads they showed so much spirit and togetherness.

"You could only see one team were going to win this one. It was an unfortunate result."

The Rovers boss spoke of his frustration at the officials for failing to get the key decisions correct and ultimately it cost Blackburn.

Morten Gamst Pedersen had the ball in the back of the net but it was chalked off as Derbyshire was wrongly flagged for offside.

Derbyshire was then punished when he had a goal ruled out when Andre Ooijer fouled David James, but the defender seemed to stand his ground.

He said: "I felt it was a bit harsh. There were two decisions that went against us, the foul on James and then the offside for Derbyshire."

With his side two points from safety Ince is confident his team can play their way out of trouble but insisted that they needed to cut out the mistakes.

"We have to stop making individual mistakes but we scored two goals away from home and we now we are playing well.

"We have to remain upbeat and keep going and look forward to next weekend."
