Jamie Carragher is refusing to let a 'rough patch' derail Liverpool's title challenge this season.

The Reds burst out of the blocks at the start of the campaign, going unbeaten through their opening 10 Premier League games.

Defeat at Tottenham on 1st November remains their only loss this term, but they have struggled to grind out results of late.

Back-to-back goalless draws at home to Fulham and West Ham have seen Rafa Benitez's side miss the opportunity to take command at the top of the table.

They are, however, still one point ahead of Chelsea and six in front of Manchester United, with Carragher of the belief that too much has been made of their recent failings.

Positive

"Usually when you are not playing well you go down the table," said the talismanic centre-half.

"Instead we are going up the league when we are not at our best.

"The positive thing to take is the fact that we have qualified for the next stage of the Champions League and we are top of the Premier League.

"To do that when we are not playing well and going through a rough patch is really positive.

"You are always disappointed when you don't win your home games, and obviously in the last three games at home we have not played as well as we could."
