Combe: In-demand

Kilmarnock boss Jim Jefferies has urged Alan Combe to make a decision on his future.

Combe is out of contract in the summer and could leave Rugby Park for nothing at the end of the season.

Killie have offered the former Bradford keeper a new deal, but as yet no agreement has been reached over a contract extension.

"There is nothing we can do about the situation. The rules are that when a player comes towards the end of his contract you negotiate with him and we have done that," Jefferies told the Daily Record.

"It is up to Alan now to make a decision.

"We have made him an offer that we feel is a good one for the resources we have.

"I hope he decides to stay but I have asked him when he will let me know his decision.

"If somebody comes in for him in January, and he doesn't want to stay, then you have to sell because you have to think about the club as well.

"Should we sell or should we not? We will address that once he makes his decision."

Interest

Hearts and Hibernian are both believed to be keeping tabs on Combe, but Jefferies is in the dark about any interest from the Edinburgh duo.

"It's news to me Hearts and Hibs are interested," added Jefferies. "All I know is the chairman has made Alan an offer and Alan knows it's up to him now.

"He has done well for us and is maybe waiting to see what's on offer.
