Nathan Tyson has committed his future to Nottingham Forest by signing a new two-and-a-half year contract.

The striker had been set to see his current deal expire at the end of the season, leading to speculation that he could be set to depart the City Ground.

However, having settled on Trentside following his 2006 switch from Wycombe, he has decided to extend his stay at the club.

Tyson, who was on target for Forest in their 3-0 FA Cup victory at Manchester City on Saturday, will now remain with the Reds until 2011.

"Scoring against City and playing a part in such an incredible victory was special and signing a new contract so soon after that makes it even sweeter," he told the club's official website.

"I'm really enjoying life at Forest. I feel settled and my family are very happy in the area, which is important. We love Nottingham.

"The decision to stay on the football front was quite easy and made even easier with Billy Davies coming in.

"I think Forest will survive in the Championship and I can see great things happening next season under the new manager."

Davies was named as Forest's new boss last week, stepping into the void created by Colin Calderwood's dismissal on Boxing Day.

Potential

The Scot officially took charge of his new squad on Monday and admits he is delighted to have secured the signature of one of his key men so soon into his reign.

"Sometimes when a new manager comes in it can put players in a difficult position and can lead to them taking stock and seeing how things develop," he said.

"The fact that Nathan has decided to make this move is something I'm thoroughly delighted about.

"He's a fantastic young player, has great potential and lots ahead of him and I think it's a great signing for Forest."
