Beckham: Hoping for Milan stay
David Beckham has told Sky Sports News that he wants to join AC Milan on a permanent basis.
The England midfielder moved to the San Siro on loan in January but he is due to return to Los Angeles Galaxy on 9th March.
Milan have made it clear they want to keep Beckham and the player's lawyers were thought to be in talks with Galaxy about a possible extension.
Beckham had previously only hinted that he would be open to staying in Italy if all parties could agree on a deal.
But the 33-year-old has now confirmed he wants to secure a permanent switch to the Rossoneri.
Speaking after Milan's 2-2 draw with rangers at Ibrox, Beckham said: "At the moment my lawyers are not talking to the Galaxy but I have expressed my desire to stay at AC Milan now and it's just down to Milan and Galaxy to come to an agreement.
"I have enjoyed my time here. I knew I would enjoy it but I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I have and do as well as I have."
Beckham has netted two goals for Milan already and produced a number of eye-catching performances.

Beckham got a dose of what the joke league, MSL, is all about. So let's see, he has a chance to play for a world class team, AC Milan, or stay with the L.A. Galaxy?! That's a no-brainer!

Sorry Max Price! Becks may be confused as you say..but who cares? He's still a wonderful midfielder, he's the best in AC Milan, nobody's running like him on the pitch than any other team mates...that's for granted! And furthermore nobody here thought of him being so humble!!!!!! Don't you think that If Becks remains at AC Milan, it would be great for Capello and England's squad? I would have never figured out Becks in such a good shape and feeling at ease with the rest of the AC Milan squad. He's a milestone in England's football and believe he has still much more to give especially in view of the next WC in South Africa.... I'm a British citizen living in Milan and England is in the deepest of my heart...honestly I have had enough of seeing England far from being on top the world for such a long time...England need reliable players...Becks is undoubtedly one of them. Dear Max, I may give your regards to Becks as soon as I see him... cheers! Max from rainy Milan

This player, once a good player in a special team, never knows where his bread is buttered best. He should start honouring his contracts particularly in the USA and stop globe trotting to satisfy his glamour staus. He is waypast his best and why should we continue giving him England caps (Last 4 total 38 mins played) to satisfy another ego trip. He will surpass Bobby Moore's tally, who played before substitutions, and is nowhwere in this class. Move over your days are done, lets give the young lads a proper chance and let DB sell shirts.

So what happened to him wanting to make Soccer bigger in America? This has pretty much undermined the whole operation. I can see his view, he understandably wants to play at the highest level he can. I suppose there is nothing wrong with that, but if I were a fan of the game in America I'd feel stabbed in the back. He came over with all those promises and pledging commitment to the cause then wants to leave when something more attractive comes along.

Personally its refreshing to see a player putting football before money. He obviously realises that he can still compete at the top level and if he wants to play for England in 2010 its his best option at milan. Becks is still a quality player and has shown this in his breif time in milan. i think deep down he realises he made a mistake by choosing to join LA in 2007, this may have been for the money, publicity, to improve the pupularity of the game in the US, but this hasn't really worked out as he planned. We should get off his back about the move, as if he joins milan it can only be good for England.

I have two opinions on this situation. First, when Becks first came to the States I felt he is way to good of a player to be playing in MLS. The Galaxy team is poor and because they didn't immediatly start winning games, the already anti-soccer American sports writers come down harder on the game. On the other hand, I feel that he signed a contract he should stick with it. He needs to take a leaf out of his AC Milan team mate Kaka's book and show some loyalty.

I couldn't help saying that Beckam really looks like Gary Barlow from Take That in the video, doesn't he? I've never noticed that before. But anyway yeah, good on him really for doing well at a big club. Even though, and apart from the fact that I personally feel that the main reason he went to LA Galaxy was because of all the money he would get, if you're not really playing that well what's the point in staying? Anyway, he's advertised Football in America enough already, staying there longer isn't really going to make that much more of a difference to America's interest in the sport.

This would be a great move for Beckham and by the looks of some of his performances for Milan, a justified one. A player is entitled to seek bigger and better things during their careers and in my opinion Becks still deserves to play at the top level of football. Perhaps not the player he was 5 or 6 years ago, he is still one of the worlds best midfielders. On the subject of Beckhams suggested lack of "loyalty", may I point out that he did spend 10 years of his career with United (including only his first team career, not the several more years in the youth system) as well as a turbulent 4 years at Madrid. GOOD ON YA' BECKS!!!

All this negative talk about David Beckham's intent to stay Milan is truly great to both his passion for the game at the highest level and his loyalty and love for his country... Everyone said that the only reason why he went to America was due to the massive cash offered and to up his celebrity holywood status and all sorts of stuff said. Anyway,a few years down the line the man who not only is the most humble and hardworking working footballer in our generation, but also a true role model to everyone who knows the true meaning of the wonderful game of football decides he wants change which not because he wants to but he has to inorder to maintain what he loves best and inorder to carry on playing for his country... I mean what more patriotism do people want from him? He's willing to have his pay cut just to serve his country again and to continue proving wrong all those doubting thomases out their who have nothing better to do but criticise and criticise....... Way it go Beckham, you are a true sportsman and one of the the greatest.

Becks is the type of guy who changes his mind and his priorities as regular as his thongs. He is obviously intent on looking after number one, and some may say what's wrong with that? Well, maybe you should ask LA Galaxy that question. I think his fanbase are questioning whether he has any long-term loyalty towards clubs which sign him up. I hope that Capello doesn't pick him, and he gets his come-uppance. Once a truly great player, his glory days are behind him, and it's time to give others a chance to shine. There is no place in the England squad for someone who not only has a messed-up, confused mind, but who talks gibberish as well. Perhaps the two are connected!

concerning DB and others, the fans are fed up with so called football pros signing big contracts just to get their lawyers to find put in a clause so the players and agents get a big pay off when a bigger or better wage deal comes there way, which ends up the supporters expense .

This would be a good move Becks joining the OAP's at Milan. He's far to talented for 'soccer' needs to move back to europe playing at the highest level of football. I'm sure Fabio was delighted to hear Becks say that and this will help him get more call ups for England.

I think this is fantastic news, the deal obviously still has to be discussed and it has to go through but i think David Beckham is making the right decision by wanting a permanant deal with the Italian Giants AC Milan. Going to America was a challenge for him, everyone said he went there for the money but the decision for him to say he wants to stay at Milan means that football is still his number one passion. If a deal is completed it will be brilliant for his England career, everybody want to see David Beckham play for England. Good Luck Becks!!

I could see this coming before the announcement & good on Becks he has done well to get where he is and still a top quality player, I would like to see the move permanent as he should make the most of his last few playing years at the highest level and Becks at Milan makes the team more interesting for me, still has the best right foot in the game & we dont have many english players in the top teams in Italy or anywhere, If LA Galaxy grant him his wish he will be playing at next years world cup

Gerry Harvey (Worcester City fan) says...
In January 2007 in and interview with Sky Sports David Beckham insisted that his transfer to LA Galaxy was based purely on altrustic reasoning and not for the huge financial gain he was to make. He stated at the time "Soccer is huge everywhere around the world, except in America," he said. "That's where I want to make a difference with the kids." So what happened David... did you lose your way. And what sort of message does that send out to the kids in America... that you have little or no loyalty. It won't matter to them if you don't pocket as many bucks as you could had you stayed on in LA they just wanted you there as they really did want you to make the difference.

Beckham signed a contract with La Galaxy and so should stick to & honour it, he had numerous oppurtunities to join other top level clubs, however money was more important than football to him - he made his bed so should sleep in it !!!. Contracts in the world of football mean JACK in this day & age - whats the point.

I think that this is a great move by DB as going to LA was a great move for his wallet but not his playing career, as a top level footballer, Pele pulled it off yes but that is only because of the exodus of top european talent that went to the states with him, plus for his international career makes him more readily available for Capello and the England side, and I think that Beckham has now tasted top level football again with a club, who along with real madrid has won the CL several times and Becks wants to play in the greatest club competition in the world, sure LA are not going to be happy about it but it is in the end of the day what is best for the player as his career is limited to maybe another 2-3 years at best.

I think this move would be amazing for Becks. He joined LA when his performances has declined, but then when he started appearing regularly for Real towards the end of the season, you could always tell that he would regret going to LA, especially after having several options to stay playing football at the highest level. Personally, I think he should still be at United!
