AC Milan manager Carlo Ancelotti believes the club should pull out all the stops to sign David Beckham.

The 33-year-old has made no secret of his desire to stay in Italy after his loan from LA Galaxy ends in March.

The MLS side have given Milan a Friday deadline to finalise any deal with the Italians reportedly set to offer £10million for the former England captain.

The Galaxy have already rejected an initial bid, thought to be in the region of £6million, and the Milan boss believes the club should make sacrifices for a player of Beckham's stature.

"In my opinion, in order to keep Beckham, sacrifices should be made because he is an important player for the team," Ancelotti said.

Meanwhile, Beckham, who equalled Bobby Moore's 108-cap record for an England outfield player against Spain, highlighted how much the achievement meant to him and especially his three sons.

"My boys love football and I would be very proud for them to see my name at the top of the list," he said.

"When I was a kid I had all the sticker books and collected everything to do with football.

"I watched everything too. I lived and breathed it. It's what I always wanted to do and is what my dad brought me up doing.

"Watching the likes of Bobby Moore and Bobby Charlton was something I was brought up on.

"We looked up to great players, but for Bobby Moore to be an East End lad as well, he lived only a few miles from me.

"I was aware of who was at the top of the list when I was young. I was always aware of what England players had done in their careers and how many games they'd played."
