Football agent Willie McKay is planning to take legal action against police authorities after being released from police bail with no charges being brought against him.

McKay was cleared by the City of London Police investigation into alleged corruption in football.

The South Yorkshire-based agent was one of a group of five men arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud and false accounting in November 2007.

McKay has found himself under the spotlight since Lord Stevens' probe into alleged corruption in Football and he always claimed his innocence from any wrongdoing.

McKay, who had been on police bail since November 2007, is now considering taking legal action after having his reputation tarnished by the investigation.

Angry

"I am angry myself and my family endured two years of torment and had our good name called into question," said McKay in a statement released to Sky Sports.

"Without doubt, the actions of the City of London Police have damaged my business and I will look to the courts to address that.

"It appears to me I was targeted as a scapegoat after the expensive failure of the Quest investigation

"To have your home raided in the middle of the night while your wife and children are in bed is an emotionally scary experience.

"I would like to thank my family and close friends for their support. I would also like to thank my lawyer, Ian Burton and his legal team, Jonathan Crystal QC and all managers and chairmen and my clients who have stayed loyal to me."
