Sky Sports News understands that talks will begin with all interested parties hoping to sign Carlos Tevez on Monday and Tuesday.
Representatives of the Argentina striker will hold discussions with four clubs in the Premier League - Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea.
Reports also suggest that one club in Italy and one in Spain are interested, although the Primera Liga side is not thought to be Real Madrid.
It is understood that Tevez himself will announce that he would prefer to stay in the Premier League.
The 25-year-old joined United on loan in 2007, but that deal expires at the end of June and speculation has suggested that the forward is ready to turn his back on Old Trafford.
Conjecture has implied that Tevez could view City as his preferred destination, with rumour suggesting the Eastlands outfit are prepared to offer a deal worth in the region of £140,000-a-week.

Carlos should stay at United, we ARE the only team, who can guarantee him trophies & he is loved. But, if he wants to do a Gareth Barry & go for the cash, then we are better off without him. We only want players who WANT to play for the badge

Liverpool should go for tevez ,it would be a fantastic buy

Richard Hincks (Manchester City fan) says...
I would be surprised if he stays at United and just as surprised if he goes to Liverpool, simply due to the view of joining an arch rival, and whether liverpool can compete financially for him. I think it's between Chelsea and City, they are two completely different prospects for him, both can compete evenly financially, so it will be down to what Tevez wants, CL football or a consistent first team place, I hope it's the latter.

Well the auction begins, he is a good player but certainly not worth £25million. Having seen his penalty in the WCQ then he needs to improve his goal scoring ratio. I support Liverpool and just cannot see him slotting in with Gerrard & Torres , we need a back up to Torres, someone who is happy to play the understudy part. but is still quality. I would rather pitch in an offer Owen a route back to Liverpool, we know he can score goals, but isnt up to 60 games per season. I would rather buy Tungay from the Boro than Tevez and keep some money for a quality right back and midfield player.

Oh dear, so he basically going to go to the club who offers a) him the most money b) his advisers the most money c) match the transfer fee request

Tevez shouldn't think that way because he is in a team that he likes to play for, but Sir Alex hasn't given him the importance that he deserves. He is a top player and would help a lot United next seasons not only in the pitch but also we fans love him and he represents a lot of money in merchandise. So please Sir Alex: "All we are saying is give Carlos a chance!"

As much as I would be sad to see Carlos go I do think it is the right thing. With Rooney in the team he will never be a first team regular and they both have the same attributes but Rooney being the much more gifted player. If he goes to City I will wish him well but hope he only achieves personal accolades rather than winning any trophies. With the £80 million we get for Ronaldo I think we should sign Robben and possibly another attacking midfileder or stiker, maybe Samuel Eto'.

Let him go. We will show him that winning a title is not just about one man. He's a good player but there's no i in team

I'd love to see Tevez move to Liverpool as he's a hard worker and when he's played on a regular basis he's a fantastic player. The problem is that I'm not sure where we'll find the money from and if the Americans would sanction the £130,000+ wage that he'd want. Here's hoping that Hicks and Gillett are gone before the transfer window is up and we can bring in an owner who will back the side financially and build us a new stadium.

Jane Lewis (Liverpool fan) says...
A move to Man City will just show that he is only interested in the wages. Players in it for the football would stay at Old Trafford (and I hate to say that!) or move to Liverpool.

Femi Tijani (Manchester United fan) says...
Tevez would be a huge loss, but i think what matters most is a player that can give you 25-30 goals in a season. I wouldn't take away his enthusiasm for the game, his commitment is 101% but United can still afford to let him go provided they find a player who can deliver the goods like Ruud did in his days. The question is where can we find that player? We keep hearing all sorts but i think and believe Man United will work out that magic again to bring in quality replacements.

I think Tevez should stay with United now that Ronaldo has gone, but City are offering him huge wages.

Chris Mills (Manchester United fan) says...
Tevez should stay at united, the fans love him, he can score goals anywhere and is hard working, now ronaldo has gone it has made room for a star and i rate rooney, tevez, berbatov, park and nani to peak now ronaldo is gone, would be a shame to let him go as he really is world class come on fergie!

Chris Taylor (Manchester City fan) says...
Dragging on way too long all this, he should join us asap and stick 2 fingers up at Fergie. He'll play week in week out with us and be back to the form he showed at West Ham. Give us a couple of seasons with the right signings and we'll be pushing for champions league football

Ignatius Ibanga (Chelsea fan) says...
Let Tevez have a say in his future, career and happiness. If he really wants to leave Old traford, he should join a team that competes at all fronts and promises him European outing and feel of real soccer. Chelsea or Liverpool is ideal for a player of is kind.

James Ball (Liverpool fan) says...
I would love to see Tevez join Liverpool. I think he could form a great partnership with Torres, that is if Benitez decides to change the current system of playing Gerrard behind Torres with Mascherano and Alonso holding the Midfield. Why would he want to go to City when they won't be in the Champions League, he doesn't seem like the patient type. He's also said he is happy where he's living, so I can't see him wanting to go to Chelsea.

As a football fan, its great to see players of such quality wanting to stay in the premiership, just shows the status it has around the world. But it would be a shame if Tev went to Man Utd after the way they have treated him, Man City for just the money (lets face it, they aint making Champions League with Good ol' Sparky Hughes as Manager) and Chelsea cos Ancelotti will want to bring in of his Italian players. Lets hope Liverpool get him, what a force we would have! YNWA

Luke Doyle (Bristol City fan) says...
I think that Tevez is a player with great ability and i hope he does stay in the premier league. But i hope he doesn't go to where the money is for example Manchester city cause is would be a disgrace going to somewhere cause they offer you more money. When they all ready earn in a week what some people earn in 2 years. I hope Tevez in my opinion goes liverpool cause to see Torres and Tevez work together is could be amazing to watch.
