Arshavin: Wants more signings
Andrey Arshavin has called on Arsenal to raid the transfer market if they are to challenge for silverware this season.
The Gunners have made an impressive start to the season, scoring 10 goals in convincing victories over Everton and Portsmouth, while also seizing the upper hand in their UEFA Champions League qualifier with Celtic.
Arsene Wenger has lost the services of both Emmanuel Adebayor and Kolo Toure to Manchester City, with former Ajax defender Thomas Vermaelen his only notable addition.
Arshavin believes the Emirates Stadium side need to match the spending power of Europe's leading sides as they look to end their recent trophy drought.
The Russia international playmaker told the Sunday Times: "We still have to buy. That's my opinion.
"We shouldn't set Everton as a benchmark, we should be looking at the top teams of Chelsea, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona.
"We should buy first-class players, regardless of their age. We should buy the ones who should improve our game.
"The top teams have much bigger squads than ours and that is why we have to buy."

Im not gonna write a huge piece on this cuz to me its simple... did anyone else see the arshavin interview he did pre season? the guy is still coming to terms with the english language thus papers and journalists are spinning his words all over the shop i mean even his team mates are having a giggle at him (compare the meerkat dot com) ultimately arshavin trusts and respects wenger its why hes at arsenal hes been with us a while he knows the depth of the squad and i wont lie id feel more comfortable if one more key signing was made but overall watching how they play compared to the start last season you have to hold your hand on your heart and say they look like the best team in the premier and if they can maintain that they will be the best team in the premier.

Wait for January. The season is young but already we look sharp. Splashing the cash doesn't necessarily reap rewards as evidence of Sheva or Owen (at Chelsea and Real). It seems too late to bag a decent purchase, maybe a Madrid Dutchy but why the talk of panic buying now when we look pretty stable? Paitence is the key.

I think Arshavin has made a point that many arsenal fans have been stressing and i think sneider would help if we were to continue playing this 4-2-3-1 formation but i wouldn't mind seeing patrick back to his original and only home. Another spot is at CB especially an arial beast bcos i don't think senderos will ever make the grade at us. Even if it means paying 20-25mil pounds for a top CB and then 10 for a DMC i would not only be happy but would thimk we got enuf to do great things and win big cups this year. But with that said... IN ARSENE WE TRUST

I believe we only need a few additions, not to distrupt the harmony within the team, we have the basis of an extremely good team. Van der Vaart or Sneijder from Real Madrid would be excellent signings, both vast in experienced, internationals and more importantly know what it takes to win major honours. Both are available at a cut-price so I dont see any reason why AW shouldn't dive in. If we keep Senderos I think we should wait until January until buying a central back, as for densive mid, Song is providing more than capable and with Diaby's ability to play anywhere across the middle of the park I think we are strong enough, at least to January. Eduardo, Bendtner, VP and Vela are top-notch and all give a different attacking option up front. Realistically I think we can push for top spot. Good job skysports...keep up the good work. Very Impressed with the choice of female presenters!!

Arshavin makes a good point but has a lot to learn!! AW has been doing this along time and has in the past done some late business, but most of his pieces are in place by now. If you ask Arshavin straight up who would you recommend, he may struggle as there really are few top crop available within budget who could actually make a significant difference. He however is an exception to this rule. Unfortunately there are not too many Arshavins kicking around at the moment so we may have to watch the usual story line unfold........watch this space!

I think that Arshavin is right we need some players just to give us that extra protection with people getting injured i think that we need to get a world class forward to partner V.Persie and a CM to help fabregas and the defensive we need to spend big to win something this season COME ON U ARSENAL

I think Arshavin is sayin the right thing. Okay we have a good team but how about injuries? Are we 100% sure all our players will be fit throughout the season. the season is just young and we have like 4 to 5 players injured, i mean there is no certainty, we shouldn't be relying on some players. Arsene should get experience players dat wil help break d jinx. U guys @ skysport r doin a great job, i look forward 2 receiving mails 4rm u concerning EPL n my darlin teaw arsenal. Keep up d gud work.
