Charlton and Leeds continued to pull clear of the chasing pack as they maintained their 100 per cent winning records.

Charlton were the first to notch their sixth consecutive victory with a comfortable 2-0 success over Brentford in a lunchtime kick-off at The Valley. Deon Burton and Lloyd Sam did the damage with goals before half-time.

Leeds also made an excellent start to their home game against Stockport as Mike Grella and Lubomir Michalik found the target in the first 45 minutes, and Simon Grayson's men held on to prevail 2-0.

Huddersfield came out on top in the battle between third and fourth at Milton Keynes Dons as Antony Kay's late header sealed a 3-2 triumph, although the Terriers remain five points adrift of an automatic promotion place.

Bristol Rovers moved into the top four courtesy of a 2-0 win at home to previously unbeaten Millwall. Jeff Hughes and Chris Lines struck for the Pirates.

Aidy Boothroyd began his Colchester reign with a goalless stalemate at Southampton, which leaves Saints without a win all season and still 11 points from safety.

Southampton's misery was compounded as second bottom Brighton beat fellow strugglers Wycombe 1-0 at the Withdean Stadium thanks to Nicky Forster's effort 15 minutes from time.

Tranmere suffered their fourth straight defeat as they went down to a 3-0 loss against Carlisle at Brunton Park.

Gillingham claimed their first win since the opening day of the season as they overcame Exeter 3-0 at Priestfield thanks to a Simeon Jackson double and Luke Rooney strike.

Norwich played out a goalless draw with Walsall at Carrow Road as the Saddlers' winless run stretched to five games.

Swindon battled to a 1-0 victory away to Yeovil to extend their unbeaten sequence to five matches.
